Our purpose is to provide a safe, supportive environment for people with social
phobia to get together, discuss our condition, and help each other as best as we can.
We realize that just showing up at a support group meeting can be extremely
difficult. We understand. We have social phobia too. If you'd like to join us, there's no obligation to participate.
Imagine yourself at the meeting with a few people like yourself. A new person
tentatively approaches for the first time. You can see they're nervous and trying hard to keep it under control, because they
very much want to be able to do this. How would you respond to this situation? You'd be understanding, supportive, and not
put any pressure on them because you know what it's like, right? Us too. We've been there - on both sides of that situation.
And once we got past it, we made good friends and went home after the meeting feeling great. Because we knew we weren't alone.
We met people like ourselves who were understanding, didn't judge us, and shared their experiences to help us cope better.
We hope you'll join us.
Too shy to come to the group?
Do you feel too anxious to come out to the
group meetings? Would you like more information before your first meeting? Not ready for social situations?
If this describes you, and you would like to meet on an individual basis with one of our facilitators, then contact Rama at
socialphobiagroup@yahoo.com . We can answer any questions you have about the group and about taking the first steps in dealing with social anxiety.
